Better?

At this point the hardest part besides not being in 'running' shape is the mental part of running. I am having trouble pushing myself past thinking I am tired and getting back into the swing of things. Today was by the far the best I felt since I started running again...hopefully Wednesday will pass that as well.

The only bad part was I felt some mild foot pain however I am going to start wearing my inserts everyday and do a better job stretching so hopefully I can get it before it gets as bad as it was. Otherwise nothing is new...

Day 1

So today was officially the 1st day back running. The schedule I'm trying calls for lifting and stretching on Monday and I added a little dog walking just for grins so today the first day I ran...well tried to run. You see I've been working out, drinking milk (actually I don't like milk) and getting strong (7 year old boy strong) but I'm not in running shape. I knew it would take a while to get my legs back so I started slow. I did run/walk intervals for about 2 miles...but it was pain free. Today was a good day...

Keep on keepin' on.

Hope...

To misquote what is quite possible the best movie of all time..."Get busy running or get busy dieing".

After an arch support and a stupid pad I may have finally found something that allows me to run pain free...at least I hope so. The past 3 nights I have ran a little while walking the dog and have had no ill effects. So hopefully I'll start my come back next week. There will be stretching and bitching but hopefully I'll be pain free.

I never should've let me old running shoes get that bad...lesson learned.

Slow Go

I've been dealing with some mild foot discomfort so the running has been nonexistent for a bit. I've been trying to do some exercises to get it stretched out and healthy so I can get back in the game. In the mean time I've been hitting the bike pretty hard and walking the dog a lot but hopefully in another week or so I'll be able to start running again. I may not get a race in for January but if I can get 2 in for another month that will be good enough to keep my running resolutions. I've been using the heck out of the socks and I'm really digging them. Very comfortable for the dryfit stuff...

Keep on keepin' on.

Running Goals for 2009

So as the new year starts or has started I thought I would tell my running goals for 2009.

1. Run an event every month
2. Finish 1/2 marathon in under 2:30
3. Run a full marathon

Running for real starts again tomorrow. I'm looking forward to running with a purpose again. Keep on keepin' on.

New Year's Eve

So the plan Monday night was to get the insoles ready and try them out as well as some of the new socks but I decided that doing 2 new products at the same time might not work because it was changing two variables instead of one so I wouldn't be able to tell which one was better...so I just tried the socks.

I liked the socks...but realistically all new socks feel great. I could tell they had extra cushion especially when walking on hard surfaces like tile floors or hardwood floors. I couldn't tell a huge difference when I went out for a jog but I went a short distance. I'm thinking that longer distances I would benefit for a more comfortable sock instead of the super light weight running socks I normally wear.

I'm still waiting for the 2009 local running calendar to come out so I can plan a course of action for 2009. I did see that there was a 5k/10k in late January that's indoors so I'll probably start running and training for that next week. That's all for now.

Keep on keepin' on.
