Runs with Dog

You can run.

You can run with a dog.

You can run with this dog.

You can't, however, run with THIS dog.

Well unless you want to run slower...slower than slow.

Update

I'm still alive and kicking...been trying to get back into some good running habits but 430 in the morning seems a lot earlier this year then it did last year. I signed up for another 1/2 Marathon in October. It's the KC Half Marathon and I'll officially start training after the 4th of July so now it's basically just trying to get my legs back in shape and getting used to getting out of bed that flippin' early. I'll try to post more regularly once I really get going again.

Keep on keepin' on.

Motivation Schmotivation

I'm slowly getting back into running shape but not getting back into blogging shape. Hopefully a few more runs and I'll have more to say...however I will say it was so nice to run in the rain this morning. It makes it so much easier...no thinking just running. 2 miles in 20:07 which includes 3 minutes of walking since I was just planning on doing some 8/3 intervals so I can live without. 2 on Wednesday and I'll be almost there. That's all for now.

That One House

Maybe it's me (okay I'm sure it's me) but why do people block the sidewalk with their car? I live in the suburbs...2 or 3 car garages, extra wide driveways that typically run 3 or 4 cars deep...not my house but the nice neighborhood around the block where I start my run/walk whatever. With all the excess space why in the world do they have to park 28 feet from their garage and block the freakin' sidewalk.

Imagine little Tommy riding down the sidewalk on his first big boy bike and he has to swerve into the street to get around the people who block the sidewalk with their cars...is that safe? Yeah not so much. Poor Tommy.

Everyday when I pass this one house they always block the sidewalk. The one house where the dog always tries to get out and chase us. The one house where they never give you the courtesy nod or wave. I have to be honest here for a second...I want to smear dog poop all over their windows.

Keep on keepin' on.

Better?

At this point the hardest part besides not being in 'running' shape is the mental part of running. I am having trouble pushing myself past thinking I am tired and getting back into the swing of things. Today was by the far the best I felt since I started running again...hopefully Wednesday will pass that as well.

The only bad part was I felt some mild foot pain however I am going to start wearing my inserts everyday and do a better job stretching so hopefully I can get it before it gets as bad as it was. Otherwise nothing is new...

Day 1

So today was officially the 1st day back running. The schedule I'm trying calls for lifting and stretching on Monday and I added a little dog walking just for grins so today the first day I ran...well tried to run. You see I've been working out, drinking milk (actually I don't like milk) and getting strong (7 year old boy strong) but I'm not in running shape. I knew it would take a while to get my legs back so I started slow. I did run/walk intervals for about 2 miles...but it was pain free. Today was a good day...

Keep on keepin' on.

Hope...

To misquote what is quite possible the best movie of all time..."Get busy running or get busy dieing".

After an arch support and a stupid pad I may have finally found something that allows me to run pain free...at least I hope so. The past 3 nights I have ran a little while walking the dog and have had no ill effects. So hopefully I'll start my come back next week. There will be stretching and bitching but hopefully I'll be pain free.

I never should've let me old running shoes get that bad...lesson learned.
